Peach's Castle (Odyssey)

This papercraft of Peach’s castle is based on the souvenir model you can get in Super Mario Odyssey. The model is one of the ornaments you can get to decorate the ship and is a miniature of the full size Peach’s castle in the Mushroom Kingdom. The castle design is similar to the one from Super Mario 64 and features a similar giant portrait of Peach.

The smaller turrets can be a little fiddly, but they’re actually all optional, so if you’re struggling with them don’t worry about it too much. The base can also be a little tricky and may need some gentle encouragement to straighten out. Remember paper is flexible! You can bend it slightly to shape it.

Meowser

Super Mario 3D World launched on the Wii U in 2013 and now a port has been announced for Switch! 3D World introduced the cat power up, but it wasn’t just for Mario. Bowser also got a piece of the cat action and a fresh new look to go with it.

This papercraft gets a hard rating for a couple of reasons. First is simply its size and complexity - at 15 pages it’s quite a long build. The second reason is there are some difficult angles and curves to negotiate. There aren’t really any small fiddly pieces, but attaching all the large pieces together can be a bit tricky.

Luigi's Mansion - Polterpup

Polterpup first appeared in Luigi’s Mansion 2 on 3DS and now he’s back and just as adorable in Luigi’s Mansion 3 on Switch. He’s a cheeky little ghost dog who can cause problems, but with a face like that it’s impossible to be angry with him.

Captain Toad

Captain Toad first appeared as the leader of the Toad Brigade in Super Mario Galaxy and Galaxy 2. Since then he has appeared in Super Mario 3D World, with a slight redesign and a unique set of levels. These levels involved guiding Captain Toad (who cannot jump) through puzzle dioramas, collecting stars along the way. This concept was later expanded on and Captain Toad got his very first game as a main character with Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker.

Blimp Yoshi

A pretty complex craft, Blimp Yoshi was one of Yoshi's new power ups introduced in Super Mario Galazy 2, along with Dash Yoshi and Bulb Yoshi. With a Blimp Fruit, Yoshi can propel himself and Mario into the air for a short amount of time.

Tips: Follow the template's numbers for the suggested build order. I highly recommend using Pepakura Viewer  to open the .pdo file, it will tell you exactly what part goes where.

Penguin Luigi

Here's Penguin Luigi, the counterpart to Penguin Mario. The Penguin Suit is a power up first introduced in New Super Mario Bros. Wii. With the suit, Luigi has the same range of new abilities as Mario, including sliding along ice and firing ice balls.

Penguin Mario

Penguin Mario is a power-up first appearing in New Super Mario Bros. Wii. As Penguin Mario he can slide quickly along ice, throw ice balls, swim better and even slide along the surface of water.

Tips: Build from the head down, Sealing at the soles of the feet. Build the nose before attaching it to the face, and complete the arms before attaching them to the body. This papercraft is fairly simple, so you shouldn't have too many problems, but use the .pdo file in Pepakura if you get stuck.

Blooper (Super Mario Sunshine)

Bloopers are recurring Mario enemies that have appeared in most of the games in the series, although they had their most unique appearance in Super Mario Sunshine. It was also the first game where Bloopers were able to stand on dry land.

Tips: Build from the head down, starting with the two big side pieces. Build down to the tentacles, then build the biggest two first and attach them to the body. Fully complete the other four tentacles, then also attach them to the body. Seal with the large octagon piece on the bottom.

This papercraft was my entry for Nintendo Papercraft's Mario contest. It is based on the sprites from the original NES game, Super Mario Bros. There are also alternative textured versions for Fire Mario, Luigi and Mario as he appeared in Donkey Kong.

Ball Bowser

A really simple, easy to build papercraft. It is Bowser, imagined as if its body was just a sphere. This is a similar concept to 'Cubee-Craft', a popular way of turning characters into very simple templates using a cube as a base. Bowser has appeared in most Mario games, usually as the main villain to beat. He has an affinity for kidnapping Princess Peach, but is always thwarted in the end.

Super Mario Sunshine Fruits

6 Papercrafts in one! This papercraft is of the fruits which feature in Super Mario Sunshine. They have a big role in the game from changing Yoshi's colour to being the focus of the boss battle against King Boo in Hotel Delfino. Build a coconut, durian, papaya, pineapple, red pepper and a bunch of bananas. If you want, you could always ignore the fact the models are from a Mario game, and build yourself a nice fruit bowl.
